Annual Report Awards

IPAA ACT has administered the Annual Report Awards since 1983. This Award is currently under review and may be replaced by a new Performance Reporting Award in 2017, to recognise excellence in reporting against the federal government’s enhanced Commonwealth performance framework. This framework is a key objective of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act). 

IPAA ACT is working with the Department of Finance, who are contributing to the review, with more information on this Award to be made available in early 2017.

Background of the Former Awards

The Annual Report Awards were one of IPAA ACT's flagship events, epitomising IPAA’s mission to encourage excellence and good governance in public sector administration. Participation in the Awards was open to all Commonwealth entities (irrespective of their geographic location) and all ACT government agencies. Corporate members of IPAA ACT were able to nominate for the Awards free-of-charge, while fees for non-corporate members operated on a sliding scale based on the number of staff within an organisation.


Annual report nominations were assessed by volunteer assessors coming from Commonwealth and ACT Government agencies. Assessor reports were provided to panels of independent judges who were responsible for determining the Award winners. Assessments were provided back to participating agencies as feedback, following the presentation of Award winners.
