Public Interest Disclosure

Two years since the PID commenced, Philip Moss will comment on the Public Interest Disclosure Act.

The Commonwealth Public Interest Disclosure Act has been in operation for about two years. How effective has it been as part of a public sector integrity framework? Are there opportunities to broaden the coverage of such schemes to other domains and inform best practice?

This seminar will provide:

  • a reflection on the past 2 years' operation of the PID scheme
  • an outline of the independent review which has commenced into the PID scheme, and
  • a commencement of the ground work for reform – a briefing and invitation to participate in the next major systematic research project to explore the adequacy of organisational responses to whistleblowing across the public, private and not for profit sectors, and provide greater evidence to inform agency best practice in this area.
