Join IPAA for the annual Williams Oration with the CEO of the National Mental Health Commission.
IPAA is pleased to welcome Christine Morgan, CEO of the National Mental Health Commission and National Suicide Prevention Adviser to the Prime Minister, to deliver the 2020 Williams Oration. Ms Morgan is a passionate leader in mental health care reform and is committed to listening and responding to the voices and needs of those with lived experience.
Prior to joining the Commission, Ms Morgan was CEO of the Butterfly Foundation for eating disorders and Director of the National Eating Disorders Collaboration. During her time with the Butterfly Foundation, she led a collaborative advocacy strategy that included amplification of eating disorders as a serious mental and physical health issue.
Ms Morgan's address will be followed by a conversation with Janean Richards, Chief Operating Officer at the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources; Iain Anderson, Deputy Secretary at the Attorney-General's Department; and Dr Catherine Kelaher, Principal Medical and Health Adviser at the Office of Health Protection. The panel discussion will reflect on the importance of mental health awareness and will be chaired by Heather Cook, Deputy Director-General of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation and IPAA ACT Councillor.
IPAA ACT established the Williams Oration in 2018, in honour of Helen Williams AC, the first female to be appointed Secretary of an Australian Government department.
