Each IPAA division hosts an Oration as part of their annual calendar, to honour an individual and their contribution to the field of public administration. In 2018, IPAA ACT established the Williams Oration, in honour of Helen Williams AC, the first woman to be appointed Secretary of a federal government department.
This year, IPAA is pleased to welcome Christine Morgan, CEO of the National Mental Health Commission and National Suicide Prevention Adviser to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who will deliver the 2020 Williams Oration. Ms Morgan is a passionate leader in mental health care reform, committed to listening and responding to the voice and needs of those with lived experience.
Prior to joining the Commission, Ms Morgan was CEO of the Butterfly Foundation for eating disorders and Director of the National Eating Disorders Collaboration. During her time with the Butterfly Foundation, she led a collaborative advocacy strategy that included amplification of eating disorders as a serious mental and physical health issue.
IPAA will deliver the Williams Oration as a hybrid event, with attendees able to attend the physical event in person or a virtual event online through a live-stream.
The physical event will include networking and refreshments and will incur a cost. The virtual event will not incur a cost with the stream delivered publically through the GovTEAMS (Microsoft Teams) platform. Please indicate your preference as part of the registration process.
The physical event will follow social distancing and related safety protocols in accordance with Federal and ACT Government regulations and guidelines. Attendee safety is paramount with the event subject to change as required.
