WELCOME TO THE 2021 FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM
Tailored to APS6 – EL1 equivalent public sector staff, the program provides an exciting development opportunity for emerging leaders working in and with the public sector. Participants discuss and debate challenges relevant to them, broadening their perspectives in the public service, while networking and forging professional relationships with peers.
This year's program has been designed in partnership with Deloitte, and offers excellent connection, collaboration and workshopping opportunities for all participants.

SESSION 1 | Launch Event | Secretary Address: The world we are in - Leading through disruption |
Hear stories from a Secretary on their experience leading in a changing world. Learn and experience Government Trends that will impact the public sector in 2021, and debate how future leaders can prepare and respond to these trends. |
SESSION 2 | Crucible Moments Masterclass | Change leadership strategies for future leaders. |
Explore the challenges and opportunities of leading through change to influence your team and your leaders. Hear ‘crucible moments’ from SES and share your own leadership stories in breakout groups. |
SESSION 3 | Building Your Network and Ecosystem Panel & Workshop |
What ecosystem and network do future leaders need to success in 2021 and beyond? Discuss and design your ecosystem with the help of Future Leaders Program alumni. Learn impactful techniques to grow and nurture your network in a digital world. |
SESSION 4 | GovLab | 100 Minutes to Innovate: Topic TBC |
GovLab Design Sessions are highly interactive, fast-paced workshops, where participants will be taken through a five phase Innovation by Design exercise on a leadership challenge. |
SESSION 5 | Inclusive Leadership Masterclass |
Hear stories from Senior Leaders on inclusive leadership – lessons and success. Learn about inclusive leadership initiatives across the APS. Develop ideas to make the APS more inclusive to diverse groups. Work together to tackle an inclusive leadership challenge. |
SESSION 6 | Where to From Here |
Crowdsourced speaker/s and topic to begin the final session for the program. This session will provide a chance for the group to discuss their reflections and outcomes from the program as a group. This includes reflecting on the leadership challenges of 2021 and their personal journeys. |

VENUE
We are delivering the program at the National Portrait Gallery, ACT, as a series of physical events, ensuring all COVID-19 safety protocols are followed. If COVID restrictions change, we will shift to virtual delivery.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The program is for emerging and future leaders working in or with the public sector who are passionate, established and engaged and aspire to holding management roles. They must be current Corporate Members of IPAA ACT.
Participants should be at the APS6 to EL1 level, or equivalent levels for private sector or academia. Please note that this program is not targeted at people currently undertaking a graduate program.
