Who wants to be the next Ombudsman? Hints for potential applicants

IPAA ACT is pleased to hold a Valedictory Address by the Commonwealth Ombudsman, Michael Manthorpe PSM, who retired at the end of July.

Michael Manthorpe was appointed Commonwealth Ombudsman on 8 May 2017. He is the 10th Commonwealth Ombudsman since the Office’s inception in 1977. By virtue of an arrangement between the Commonwealth and ACT Governments, he is also the ACT Ombudsman.

Michael was the recipient of a Public Service Medal in 2010 for his work to ameliorate problems thrown up by the collapse of Australia’s then-largest childcare provider, ABC Learning.

The event will be hosted by Dr Steven Kennedy PSM, Secretary of The Treasury. Michael will be joined by Alison Larkins FIPAA, Commonwealth Coordinator-General of Migrant Services of Department of Home Affairs, for an 'in conversation' before the event concludes.
