Join us for an event with Dr David Gruen as he continues the conversation about the use of data in government.
In 2020, not long after he was appointed Australian Statistician, Dr David Gruen presented at an IPAA ACT event on the ‘Promise of data in government’. He spoke about integrated public-sector data assets, the importance of maintaining the community’s trust in the safe handling of public-sector data and the upcoming Data Availability and Transparency Bill.
Two years on, Dr Gruen is reigniting this discussion, reflecting on the transition from 'the promise of data in government' to 'realising the potential of data in government', noting the pandemic has accelerated the use of data to meet public-policy challenges.
Dr Gruen will explore the critical role data has played in responding to the pandemic, the huge acceleration in data use across government, and the future of collaboration in deriving public value from data. He will conclude by drawing attention to the value the appropriate use of data can play in Australia’s future.
Dr Gruen will be joined in conversation by IPAA ACT Board Member and Deputy President, Cheryl-anne Moy.
