In this special Q&A series, we introduce the members of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) ACT Future Leaders Committee (FLC) who work closely with us to deliver a series of events throughout the year.
Today we hear from Hend Rifai, assistant director of the Governance, Planning and Reporting team at the Department of Finance about expanding her networks through the committee, and her dedication to driving the APS reform agenda.
I am the assistant director of the Governance, Planning and Reporting team. I am responsible for leading and delivering the Department of Finance’s primary planning and reporting products including the corporate plan, portfolio budget statements, and annual report. I am also responsible for providing secretariat services to the Major Projects Committee and Executive Board. I enjoy the integrated business planning component, and the opportunity to develop and improve the department’s education and maturity in this space. Sitting on the Major Projects Committee is also very interesting and exposes me to many exciting initiatives happening across finance. From a social aspect, I love building relationships with my colleagues, sharing my culture, and getting to know my staff better.
My current role on the committee is attending meetings and contributing ideas in relation to upcoming events and potential keynote speakers.
I joined the committee because I am interested in expanding my networks and getting together with like-minded people. I also value the work IPAA ACT contributes to. I am particularly interested in and joined the committee with the hope to contribute to:
Great leadership means being the custodian of stewardship. It means being a committee for public interests, working together in partnership, looking ahead to the future, and encouraging those around you to contribute and get involved.
