I am sad to inform you that after a brief period of ill health, IPAA ACT Councillor Kerry Kennedy passed away on Wednesday 10 April 2019.
Kerry has been a stalwart of IPAA ACT, having been closely involved with the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management since their inception in 2002. He started out as an assessor for the Awards, and within a few years took on a leadership role as the Chair for the Awards Steering Committee. He generously shared his skills and knowledge to build the Awards into the premier program that it is today.
Kerry’s commitment to the PM’s Awards was unflagging; he volunteered his time generously, often foregoing overseas travel and holidays during ‘Awards Season’. He educated the hundreds of assessors who came through the Program, and inspired prospective nominees to showcase their work by entering the Awards and to use the feedback to continue their journey of excellence.
In 2012 Kerry was inducted as the first Lifetime Member of IPAA ACT, in recognition of his efforts in coordinating the Awards.
Kerry will be greatly missed.
