Information Regarding the Prime Minister's Address to the APS

About the Event

The Hon Scott Morrison MP, Prime Minister of Australia and Minister for the Public Service, will deliver an address to the Australian Public Service. The address will be held from 10:00am–11:00am on Monday 19 August in the Great Hall at Parliament House.

The event will be hosted by Frances Adamson, Secretary of the Department of Trade and Foreign Affairs and IPAA ACT President. Dr Martin Parkinson AC PSM, the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, will provide opening remarks. Peter Woolcott AO, the Australian Public Service Commissioner, will provide a vote of thanks to conclude the event. The event page can be found here.

Event Tickets

Tickets to the event are being managed centrally for all corporate members of IPAA. Tickets have been preallocated
based on organisation size and the number of seats available, as follows:

  • Departments and large agencies have been allocated 20 tickets per organisation.
  • Medium agencies have been allocated 10 tickets per organisation.
  • Small agencies have been allocated 2 tickets per organisation.

If corporate members wish to purchase additional tickets, they should contact IPAA at marked to the attention of Chantelle Muyot. A limited number of tickets are also available for purchase by individual members.

Event Cost

The event is being delivered on a cost-recovered basis with a fee of $50 per attendee (GST inclusive). 

Ticketing for departments and large agencies is being managed in blocks of ten at a cost of $500 per block, with additional attendees sought in blocks of ten to streamline ticket administration.

Who Should Attend?

It is expected that the Secretary or agency head and key members of the Executive will attend. It is then up to each organisation to determine who else should attend. This might include other Senior Executive, perhaps complemented by a mix of other attendees including middle managers and graduates.

Attendee Information

IPAA requires attendee information by COB Friday 9 August. 

Attendee information should include full name, position and an email address. For large corporate members, please provide an individual email address rather than a group mailbox, to ensure attendees receive information in advance of the event.

Ticket Collection

Access to this event will be managed through the provision of individual physical tickets. Please note the ticket will be required for entry to the Great Hall and that nametags will not be issued.

Each ticket will include the attendee name and their arrival time, with attendees scheduled to arrive in waves to avoid congestion at Parliament House security checkpoints. Additional information on security screening requirements will be provided on the ticket. Tickets will need to be collected from the IPAA office in Barton by COB Thursday 15 August.

Live Streaming

The address will be broadcast live by the Department of Parliamentary Services on the Australian Parliament House (APH) website. This is the same platform used to stream Senate Estimates and should be accessible to all APS staff and the general public.

A link to the broadcast will be published on the ‘Watch, Read, Listen’ page of the APH website from 8.00am on Monday morning, with the address commencing at 10.00am sharp.

The live stream can be accessed here or by entering the following link into a web browser: Viewers will need to select the Prime Minister’s Address listed on the main page, and click on the ‘Play’ button to the right-hand side. Once the video has launched, the viewer will need to press ‘Play’ again to begin the stream.

IPAA encourages all departments and agencies to promote this broadcast internally for those who are unable to attend the address in person. A complete video of the address will also be accessible after the event from the IPAA ACT wesbite.

Key Dates

The following key dates apply:

  • Friday 26 July – confirmation of numbers required by IPAA from all corporate members.
  • Friday 2 August – event tickets finalised for all members including invoicing.
  • Friday 9 August – names of all attendees due to IPAA.
  • Wednesday 14 August – email advice to all attendees with relevant event information.
  • Thursday 15 August – ticket collection from IPAA office in Barton.
  • Monday 19 August – Address to the APS.
